Mrs. Sarah Olevia Monsen Johansen, 59, wife of Joseph Johansen, Prominent stock grower and farmer, died Saturday morning of carcinoma.
Mrs. Johansen was a prominent church and club worker and had been active in musical circles. She had served many years as counselor and 5 years as president of the South ward Relief Society; 40 years as a Relief Society visiting teacher; active in M I A and Sunday school; teacher in the primary association and for 46 years a member of the South ward choir. She was a member and past president of the Acme Literary club and a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, the Friendship club and the Mt. Pleasant Pioneer Historical association.
Surviving are her husband; 1 daughter, Mrs. Alden Hayward, Bountiful; 4 sons, Vernon Johansen, music instructor at Payson high school; Grant, Wesley and Don Johansen, all of Mt. Pleasant; 8 grandchildren; 3 brothers and 6 sisters, James Monsen, Mrs. Nora M. Mcintosh, Mrs. Esther M. West and Mrs. O. M. Aldrich, Mt. Pleasant; John Monson and Christine M. Madsen, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Josephine M. Jorgensen, Ephraim; Mrs. Christie M. Beck, Aberdeen, Ida., and Peter Monsen, Hiawatha.
