He attended Germantown school, which was near his home, and was engaged in farming most of his life. Ill health forced him to give up farming two years ago, and since that time he has lived in Primghar.
On Nov. 20, 1923, he was united in marriage to Theresa Erichsen at Sioux City. To them were born 6 children, three of whom preceded their father in death. Four brothers, one sister, and his parents have also passed away.
Survivors include his wife and three children, Gerald Mesner of Primghar, Marlene Hattermann of Chatsworth, and Marvin Mesner of Primghar; one grandchild, Bruene Lyn Hattermann, a sister, Mabel Gottche of Cleghorn, four brothers, John of Chanlor, Minn., Bernard and Walter of Paullina, and Earl of Sutherland.
