Funeral services were held Monday, December 27, 1971, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Chandler, Minnesota for John Mesner. He passed away at the Sioux Valley Hospital, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on December 23 1971 at the age of 69 years, 2 months and 11 days. He is survived by his wife, Ella, and two children, Betty, Mrs. Leonard Fiddelke, of Granville, Iowa, and Ronald of Chandler. Also surviving are two brothers, Earl of Sutherland, Iowa and Walter of Paullina. One half-brother, three half-sisters, 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters, and one son, Harlin, who passed away in September of 1951.

John Mesner was born to John Sr. and Engeline Tretjer Mesner at Germantown, Iowa on October 12, 1902. He was confirmed in the Christian faith at the Germantown Lutheran Church.

He was united in marriage to Ella Tesch at Germantown on December 6, 1927. To this union three children were born. They engaged in farming at Paullina until they moved to their present farm home near Chandler in February of 1947. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Chandler, where he served the church as a member of the church council.

Pallbearers were Les Fiddelke, Loren Fiddelke, Dan Knorr, David Knorr, Duane Knorr and John Lenz. Interment was at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Chandler, Minnesota
