Earl Mesner, the son of John and Engelena Tiecher Mesner, was born September 20, 1912, near Germantown, in O'Brien County, Iowa. He received his education in O'Brien County schools.

In 1935 he was united in marriage to Ora Traver in Paullina. After their marriage, the couple settled in Paullina for several years before moving to the Sutherland area. The couple farmed on various farms before retiring in 1969 and moving into Sutherland.

Earl passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 1987, at the Baum-Harmon Hospital in Primghar, reaching the age of 74 years, 11 months and 25 days.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Ora of Sutherland; one son, Bradley Mesner of Sutherland; one step-son, Jack Schroeder of Primghar; five grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; also one brother, Walter of Paullina and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.
