On September 1, 1941 she married John J. Gross at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on June 9, 2007.
Esther was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1936. Esther was employed at Rahr's Furniture Store from 1964 until her retirement in 1981. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi and the St. Clare Society.
Survivors include a daughter: Jeanne Gross, Manitowoc; three sons and a daughter-in-law: Jack & Adelle Gross, Kingwood, TX, Gary Gross, Nacogdoches, TX, Dr. Bob Gross, Kingwood, TX; eight grandchildren: Amy (Charles) Trogdon, Roanoke, VA, Sara (Jim) Hamilton, Green Bay, Kevin Gross, Houston, TX, Kristin Gross, Kingwood, TX, Jacqueline Gross, Jake Gross, Jeremy Gross, all of Nacogdoches, TX, Matt Gross, Houston, TX; three great grandsons: Charlie, Sam & Eli Trogdon, Roanoke, VA; a great granddaughter: Claudia Hamilton, Green Bay; and a sister-in-law: Joyce Gross, Two Rivers. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers and sisters-in-law: Arnold & Marcy Ozga, Allan & Nancy Ozga; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Lorraine Knutson, Dolores & Jim Rezba; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Fred & Mary Gross; a brother-in-law: Harry Gross; and a daughter-in-law: Lisa Gross.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo - 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. William Brunner with entombment at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc, from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2013 until 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Esther's name for masses. The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
