Grandma Shain died at the home of her son-in-law, Taylor Sweeten, Friday morning, about 3:30, after a few hours illness. The funeral was held from the UB Church in this place, Friday even[ing] at 4 conducted by Reverend Garlock and Lewis of Eagleville, after which she was tenderly laid to rest by the side of her aged companion, who preceded her [by] several years. Grandma had reached the advanced age of 80 years, 10 months and had recently spent four weeks with her children living around in the neighborhood, returning home the Sunday before. She was taken seriously ill at midnight before she died the following morning. She realized deaths' angel hovered near, and spoke to her daughter, saying "Sarah, my time has come to die. I would like to see all my children but I can't now, but tell them no[t] to grieve for me." Condolence is extended to the sorrowing ones.
