Margaret M. Gries, age 97, a resident of Oak Creek Assisted Living, Kiel, entered her eternal life on Thursday afternoon, July 23, 2015 at Oak Creek.
She was born on November 12, 1917 in Franklin, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Jacob and Anna (Fritsch) Ebert. Margaret was united in marriage to her first husband Bernard Brandel and he preceded her in death on June 22, 1962. She later married Elmer H. Gries on May 10, 1980 and he also preceded her in death on August 16, 1995. Margaret was employed in sales at Berk's Clothing of Manitowoc for many years. She was a member and past president of the Manitowoc County Homemakers and enjoyed bowling, gardening and playing sheepshead with family and friends.
Survivors include her step children: Ralph and Dorothy Gries, Kiel, Harlan and Judy Gries, Valders, Mary and Robert Weller, Wausau, Anna Mae and Keith Krish, Manitowoc, Kathie and Dave Tienor, Valders; one step sister-in-law: Jo Ann Gries, Oshkosh; special nephew: Dale (Diane) Brandel, Sheboygan; fourteen step grandchildren; many step great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo - 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. David Beaudry with burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc, from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2015 until 11:15 a.m.
