Ruby Davis Mode, 68, of Leonard Street, Glen Alpine, NC, died Saturday, December 17, 2005 at Grace Hospital following a period of declining health. Born June 24, 1937 in Burke County, she was a daughter of the late Victor Columbus Davis and Annie Mae Harris Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Jackson Mode; two sons, George Andrew and Thomas Victor Mode;a brother, Jackson Daniel Davis; and a step-brother, Steve Saulmon. Ruby was a member of Grandview Baptist Church.

Mrs. Mode is survived by two sons, Charles Edward Mode and wife, Louise, of Glen Alpine, Franklin Lee Mode of Morganton; a daughter, Jacqueline Graham and husband, Richard, of Morganton; three brothers, James Victor Davis, Paul Edd Davis, and Charles Ned Davis, all of Morganton; two sisters, Mrs. Johnny (Louise) Smith and Mrs. Steve (Linda) Perry, both of Morganton; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews, a companion, Jimmy Blankenship; two step--brothers, Robert Saulmon of Marion and Larry Saulmon of Morganton; a step-sister, Ann Branch of Marion.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2005 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Reverends Charles Sisk and Tony Land officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence, 103 Leonard Street, Glen Alpine.
