William Henry Bellew was the son William "Billy" Bellew and Mary Bearden Shirley Bellew. He married Minnie Evalina Maynor Nov 21, 1901 in Blount County, Alabama, daughter of John Thomas Maynor and Mary "Mollie" Peddy.


Grandpa Henry Bellew attended New Plains School through the third grade. It was taught in the New Plains Methodist Church, located on the Oneonta to Springville road. School was taught about 3 months in the winter and 2 in the summer. A few of the teachers were: Aunt Vi Clowdus, Wm. Blaylock, Remus Buckner. In the 1890s, New Plain's school was moved and the children of James Wilbur Armstrong built the Armstrong-Woodard School. This school was in operation in 1910.
