John “Jack” C. Meier, age 85, of 7622 Thunder Road, Manitowoc, died Tuesday morning, December 28, 2010, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center in Manitowoc.
Jack was born on January 8, 1925, in Manitowoc, son of the late Henry and Beada (Sessler) Meier. He married Verona Labitsky on October 12, 1946. She preceded him in death in June 24, 2001. He married Ruth Csida on April 12, 2003 at Rockwood Evangelical Lutheran Church. Jack farmed his entire life. He was a member of Rockwood Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Happy Hoppers. Jack enjoyed playing sheepshead and gardening.
Survivors include his wife: Ruth Meier, Manitowoc; four children and their spouses: Kenneth (Patricia) Meier, Irving, TX; Raphael (Julie) Meier, Houston, TX; Joy Lynn (Tom) Kearney, Martinez, CA; Thomas Lee (Kathleen) Meier, Dalton, OH; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Henry and Beada Meier; his first wife: Verona Meier; three brothers: Henry Jr., Edward and Arthur “Pat” Meier; five sisters: Emma Gauger, Marie Fischer, Ida Kampman, Clara Payne and Regina “Peg” Hibbard.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 on Friday, December 31, 2010, at Rockwood Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5805 CTH R, Manitowoc. Rev. Burgess Huehn will officiate with entombment at Knollwood Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Kellnersville from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again at church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations would be appreciated in Jack’s name for the Rockwood Evangelical Lutheran Church.
