Alfred Schmitt, 71, a former Cedar Lake resident and a resident of North Ridge Nursing Home, Manitowoc, died Friday morning at Manitowoc Memorial Hospital. He had been hospitalized for several days.

He was born July 27, 1911, in the Town of Rhine, a son of Phillip and Augusta Limberg Schmitt. He attended town of Rhine schools.

Mr. Schmitt served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He operated a farm in the Town of Rhine.

Survivors are two brothers, Phillip of King and Martin of Winnebago.

Funeral services will be at 8 p.m. Sunday at Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel. The Rev. Adolph A. Graf will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Town of Schleswig.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
