PETER SCHMITT

Peter Schmitt, 79, a Town Rhine native, died this morning at Willowdale Nursing Home in New Holstein. Prior to entering the home, he resided in the Town of Rhine
and then in the Town of Schleswig at Cedar Lake.

He was born on Aug. 21, 1894, in the Town of Rhine, son of the late Phillip and Justina Linberg Schmitt, and was educated in township schools.

Mr. Schmitt was a veteran of World War I and was the recipient of the Victory Medal. He was a carpenter by trade.

Surviving are three brothers, Alfred of Kiel, Phillip of rural Kiel, and Martin of New Holstein. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Melselwitz Funeral Home in Kiel, with the Rev. John F. Baumann, pastor of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel, officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in the Town of Schleswig. - June, 1975
