Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 1994, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at St. Casimir Catholic Church, Northeim. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Michael Flanary with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
The former Mary Elizabeth Schiesl was born November 26, 1901, in Whitelaw, daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Licht Schiesl. She married Joseph B. (Kelly) Schmatz on January 14, 1925, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Milwaukee. He preceded her in death December 14, 1977. Mrs. Schmatz was a member of St. Casimir Rosary and Altar Society and the American Legion Auxiliary Post #88.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Arthur and Marilyn Schmatz, Manitowoc, Joseph and Lois Schmatz, rural Cato, Robert and Delores Schmatz, Manitowoc; four daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Ray Musial, Manitowoc, Marion and James Dhein, Sherwood, Wis., Fran and Harold McDonnell, Manitowoc, Ann and Milton Hassemer, Francis Creek; 25 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth Zipperer, Manitowoc; one brother and five sisters-in-law, Herbert and Delphine Schiesl, Frances Schiesl, Hilda Schiesl, Bernadine Schiesl, all of Manitowoc, Hilda Wittak, Green Bay; a brother-in-law, Frank X. Schmatz, Charlevoix, Mich.; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by six brothers, Edmund, George, Nick, Frank, Joseph and Reuben and one sister, Ida.
Friends may call at the Pfeffer Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. this Wednesday, June 15, 1994, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. by Rev. Michael Flanary.
