Born on June 10, 1939, to C.P. "Pete" and Elgiva Plumlee, Helen was the only girl out of 7 children. Helen lived in Tuttle for most of her life and was the matriarch of her family. She was the life of the party every time her family or friends gathered around her for the holidays or an event. Helen had a profoundly positive impact on the lives she created and influenced. She will be remembered for her warmth, unwavering faith, and witty humor.
She retired in 2004 after working as an insurance adjuster in Oklahoma City, OK. She was a lifelong Bible scholar and an active member of her church. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed traveling. She traveled to Europe and Asia with her husband Floyd, and in their later years, they enjoyed trips to the lake and camping in their fifth-wheel camper.
Helen was preceded in death by her brothers Louis, Wayne, Vernon, Hubert, and Joe, and her husband of 31 years, Floyd N. Wood.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Paul, and Joy; and five children and their spouses: Monty (Stephanie), Kim (Mark Sikes), Lane (Jennifer), Krystal (Derrick Hutchison), and Craig (Karey Henderson). She was a loving grandmother of 12 grandchildren: Matthew, Amber, Heather, Chelsea, Brianna, Landon, Hailee, Colby, Brandon, Mackenzie, Hannah, and Isabella. She had 5 great-grandchildren with more babies coming in 2022.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at the Tuttle Church of Christ. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle. In lieu of flowers, Helen has requested that donations be made to the Tipton Children's Home.
