Mr. Achie Thompson, 83, a resident of Bowden, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011, in Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.

He was born Sept. 10, 1927, at Onego, a son of the late Amby and Delphia Payne Thompson.

On Sept. 10, 1957, at Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church in Elkins, he was married to Gladys T. Lambert, who survives.

Also surviving is one brother, Jerlo Thompson and wife, Helen, of Mouth of Seneca.

Also preceding him in death were four sisters, Rissie Biller, Lily Elza, Mary Thompson and Peachie Sponaugle; and three brothers, Dewey, Hughie and Trummie Thompson.

Mr. Thompson worked as a foreman for the West Virginia Division of Highways having worked at Harman and retiring in 1991.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 15, from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Boyd Wyatt officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman.
