Mitchell “Mitch” Dewitt Cummins, 80 years of age, passed into heaven on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at home.

He was born March 10, 1936 in Aiden, Mississippi to Joseph W. Cummins and Lilly Caldwell Cummins. He married Linda Dyer May 2, 1987. She survives.

He is also survived by one son, Morgan T. (Sara) Cummins; two step children, Sabrina Reffett (Robert) Carroll and Jeremy (Elisabeth) Reffett; six grandchildren; one brother, James (Frances) Cummins; nine nieces and six nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Herman Cummins and Joseph W. Cummins Jr.; three half-brothers, Arl Doster, Watt Doster and Crayton Caldwell and two half-sisters, Lila Caldwell and Eddie Pearl Caldwell.

He was a member of The River of Life Church in Deatsville, Alabama. He was a retired flight engineer from the U.S. Air Force in 1974 and retired police lieutenant from the Prattville Police Department in 1996. He also was an avid pilot.
