A Memorial Book Signing for Rollie L. Trautman will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Alma. Inurnment will be at a later date.

Rollie Lee Trautman, 78 years of age, of Alma, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at his home in Alma, surrounded by his family. Rollie was born on May 30, 1937 in Magnet, Nebraska, the youngest of six children and second born, in a set of twins, to Adolf Carl and Ada (Peter) Trautman. He received his education from Hartington High School, graduating with the class of 1954.

Rollie enlisted in the United States Army on February 2, 1955 and was honorably discharged on July 23, 1957. He served in Bad Kreuznach, Germany and received decorations as an Expert Rifleman and Marksmen. He re-enlisted in 1957, was transferred and served in the Army Reserves, until February 1, 1963.

On March 12, 1977, Rollie was united in marriage to Josephine “Jo” Mae Goertzen in Aurora, Nebraska. Together Rollie and Jo raised six children: Bruce, Doug, Nadine, Jody, Theresa and Angela. Rollie worked as an Agronomist, serving the communities of Aurora, the Ong area, Red Cloud and Wilcox for over 40 years.

He was a member of the Masons in Red Cloud, Nebraska for 20 years, serving in various positions. Rollie enjoyed wood working, golfing, fishing, coin collecting and spending time with his friends and family; especially his grandchildren and good buddy.

Rollie and Jo decided to retire and make their home in Alma, where they could spend their time by the lake. After his retirement, he drove the fertilizer truck for the Co-op in Alma.

Rollie was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Sara Brown; father-in-law, Abraham Goertzen and mother-in-law, Minnie Goertzen; twin sister, Roma Carrol; brothers: Kenneth Trautman and Norman Trautman; sister-in-law, Bonnie Trautman; brothers-in-law: Everett Goertzen, Milt Goertzen, Erwin Thorell and Gerald Hendrickson.

He leaves to celebrate his life; his wife, Jo Trautman of Alma; children: Bruce Kingston and his wife, Debi of Pleasanton, Nebraska, Doug Kingston and his wife, Cherity of Minden, Nebraska, Nadine Gilbert and her husband, Ron of Red Cloud, Nebraska, Jody Wharton and her husband, Pat of Deshler, Nebraska, Theresa Fitzsimmons of Minden and Angela Pineda and her husband, Fil of Holdrege, Nebraska; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters: Violet Thorell of Wausa, Nebraska and Marian Hendrickson of Norfolk, Nebraska; sisters-in-law: Liz Bicknase and Amanda Williams and husband, Marvin all of Aurora, Nebraska, Marlene Watton and husband, Bob of Lincoln, Nebraska, Erma Goertzen of Marquette, Nebraska and Darlene Trautman of Warsaw, Missouri; brothers-in-law: Leo Goertzen and wife, Mavis, Denton Goertzen and wife, Larie and Johnny Goertzen and wife, Donna all of Aurora, and Phil Carrol of Strafford, Iowa; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

The family is honoring Rollie’s wish for cremation.
