Memorial services for Marian E. Henrickson, age 101, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be 11:00 a.m. March 16, 2024, at Westridge United Methodist Church in Norfolk. Reverend Caitlin Bentzinger will officiate, with burial at a later date in Magnet Cemetery in Magnet, Nebraska.


Marian died Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Stanton Health Center in Stanton, Nebraska.


Marian E. Henrickson was born August 17, 1922, in Grafton, which is near Sutton, Nebraska. Marian was born to Adolph and Ada Trautman and was one of six children born to them including Violet, Kenneth, Norman, Roma, and Rollie. Marian attended grade school in Sutton and graduated from Magnet High School in Magnet, Nebraska.


Marian married her neighbor, Jerald Henrickson, on March 29, 1941, in Osmond, Nebraska. To this union three children were born, Sandra, Terry, and Rick.


Marian and her husband owned and operated the lumberyard in Magnet until a tornado destroyed their business. They then moved to Norfolk where Marian was a waitress at Jack's Café. After that, she worked at a daycare.


Marian and Jerald enjoyed fishing and camping. They were the camp hosts during the summers.


Marian enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles, and crocheting. She was famous for the homemade candy she made at Christmas, especially her fudge.


Church was very important to Marian. She was a member of Westridge United Methodist Church in Norfolk and was involved with many bake and rummage sales that they had. She was an amazing woman and an inspiration to all of her grandchildren.


Marian is survived by her son, Terry (Serm) Henrickson of Columbus; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, George Mandl, Jr. of Stanton.


She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerald; daughter, Sandra Mandl; son, Rick Henrickson; and her siblings.
