Felix J. Whalen (Phil) passed away June 26, 2016 at his home in Erie, CO. He was 100 years old. He was born February 17, 1916 in Mineville, NY to John and Sophy (Wawcoris) Walenkievick.

Felix was inducted into the United States Army on March 10, 1941. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater with duty stations on Papua and Port Moresby, New Guinea. Felix was a surgical technician with the Army Medical Corps and was honorably discharged on August 13, 1945.

Felix married Theo Redstone in 1946 and they made their home on Staten Island, NY. Felix worked for the Proctor &Gamble Company as a rigger at the Port Ivory Plant on Staten Island. Following retirement in 1978 Felix and Theo moved to Longmont, Colorado. In 1999 they moved to Erie, Colorado.

He is survived by his wife Theo of Erie, son David Whalen (wife Janice) also of Erie, Colorado, daughter Diane Whalen, of Detroit Lakes, MN, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held 10:30 am on Monday, July 11, 2016 at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Visit www.ahlbergfuneralchapel.com to share condolences.
