EVAN HUMPHREYS.

Evan ( McGee) Humphreys, 74, of 76 Plain street , Rutland, Vt., died Sunday morning at the Rutland Hospital following a short illness.
He was born Feb. 11, 1906, in South Poultney, Vt., son of John L. and Margaret Morgan Humphreys.
A long time resident of the Poultney, Vt area, he had lived in the Rutland area for the past 36 years. He was employed by the Howe Scale Co.for 25 years prior to his retirement in 1970.
An active area bowler, he bowled in the Howe Scale League as well as the city leagues. He was a member of the American Bowlers Association, a retired deputy sheriff and a special police officer for the Rutland (Vt) Police Dept., and a past member of the Loyal Order of Moose.
Mr. Humphreys is survived by his wife, the former Katherine Rowlands; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Warner of Rutland, Vt., Mrs. Robert (Joan) Bixby of North Clarendon, Vt ; one son, Owen Humphreys of Middle Granville, N. Y.; a sister, Mrs. Richard (Joan) Ross of Stamford, Conn.; 12 grandchildren and two great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Another son, John Humphreys, died in 1951.
