Graveside services for Mrs. Maude (sic) Stevens were conducted Thursday afternoon in the Conrad Memorial Cemetery, Rev. John Gordon of the First Baptist Church of Kalispell officiating. Interment was under the direction of the Waggener & Campbell Funeral Home.
Madge James was born in 1899 in Wisconsin to Ida S. and Jesse W. James. She moved to Kalispell with her parents where she attended the Kalispell schools and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She married James H. Stevens in Kalispell on July 14, 1917, and with her husband made her home at West Glacier, where he was custodian at Glacier National Park heaquarters. Upon his retirement, they moved to Seattle. She died there June 24 at the age of 53.
Surviving are her husband; six sons, Willis, Roger, Jack, and Harley, all of Seattle, Kenneth of Sunburst, Montana, and Meredith Stevens of Chicago; three daughters, Mrs Betty Parsons and Mrs. Gerene Bagnell, both Seattle and Mrs. Sharon Hewes of Chicago; 22 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and five brothers, Ray, Meade, and Harley James of Kalispell, Willis James of Modesto, California, and Kenneth James of Portland, Oregon.
