MOTHER OF H. GROTH PASSES AWAY AT AGE 92
Advanced age caused the death yesterday of Mrs. Fredericka Groth, 92,
mother of Henry Groth, cashier of the American Exchange Bank. Mrs.
Groth passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Korthauer of
the town of Newton. Because of her age, she had been weak and infirm
for the last ten or twelve years.
Born in Germany in 1831, Mrs. Groth came to this country in 1868, locating at Newton. She had lived there since that time, the first farm on which she located being near that on which she was taken by death yesterday.
Because of the long time that she had been a resident of the town of Newton, Mrs. Groth was well known in that community. Her husband, Carl Groth, has been dead for fifty years.
She leaves four sons and three daughters, John Wegner of Manitowoc, Fred Groth of Newton and Henry and Ernst Groth of this city, and Mrs. Carl Brick of Manitowoc Rapids, Mrs. Carl Huebner of Manitowoc and Mrs. Fred Korthauer of Newton. There are also thirty-two grandchildren as well as thirty-two great grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon from the Korthauer home at 1:30 and from the German Lutheran church at Newton at 2:30, the Rev. Carl Topel to conduct the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Groth had been affiliated with the German Lutheran congregation for a number of years.
