Edward Vetter, age 82, a Newton resident, died Monday, January 9, 2017 at River Woods Place, Manitowoc.

He was born March 16, 1934 in Manitowoc County, son of the late Edwin and Maria (Nass) Vetter. He was a graduate of Valders High School with the class of 1952. Edward served in the United States Army. On December 6, 1956 he married Phyllis Boldt, she preceded him in death on September 11, 1995. Edward then married Myrt Goeke on October 10, 1999. Edward was a foreman at Burger Boat Company and then was a supervisor at Mirro Aluminum Company, Manitowoc. He enjoyed reading and was an avid Cubs fan. Edward had a great sense of humor and a vast knowledge of trivia.

Survivors include his wife: Myrt Vetter, Newton; two daughters and sons-in-law: Terri and Mike Hollen, Manitowoc, Lana and David Cournia, Jackson, WI; three grandchildren: Nicole Clark, Braden Roth, Tannon Schultz; two great grandchildren: Madyson Roth, Declan Clark; one step son: Jefry (Cindi) Goeke, Kiel; one step daughter: Terry (Tom) Miller, Two Creeks; two step grandchildren: Scott Miller, Two Creeks, Lisa Goeke, Sheboygan; one brother and sister-in-law: Willard and Charlotte Vetter, Delhi, NY; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Alice Cogswell, Manitowoc, Luella and Vernon Hecker, Manitowoc; brother-in-laws and sisters-in-laws: Wilfred Boldt, Brillion, Ralph and Irene Boldt, Kimberly, Joyce Boldt, Newton, Wendell Alberts, Maribel. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by his parents: Edwin and Maria Vetter, two brothers: Vernon (Lucille) Vetter, Elroy (Carolyn Spaude) Vetter, one sister: Bernice (Edgar) Pleuss; two brothers-in-law: Virgil Cogswell and Donald Boldt; one sister-in-law: Carol Boldt.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, town of Liberty. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Gregory Pope. Military Rites will be accorded by the American Legion Drews Blesser Post #88 following the service. Entombment will be at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth at a later date.

The family will greet relatives and friends at Trinity Lutheran Church, town of Liberty on Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m..

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Edwards name to Trinity Lutheran Church.
