Bernice L. Pleuss, age 92, formerly of Valders and a resident of Riversbend Health & Rehabilitation Center, died early Tuesday morning August 5, 2014 at Riversbend.
The former Bernice Vetter was born on December 6, 1921 in the town of Liberty, daughter of the late Edwin and Maria (Nass) Vetter. She grew up in the town of Liberty. Bernice was married to Edgar Pleuss on September 13, 1947 at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Liberty. He preceded her in death on March 31, 1997. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Church's Ladies Aid. Bernice enjoyed playing cards, gardening and spending time with her family.
Survivors include: two daughters and one son-in-law: Linda (Jerry) Haupt, Manitowoc; Eileen Pleuss, Manitowoc; one son: Steven Pleuss, Valders; two grandchildren: Christopher (Kathy) Haupt, Manitowoc; Chad (Melissa) Haupt, Brea, CA; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Willard (Charlotte) Vetter, Delhi, NY; Edward (Myrt) Vetter, Newton; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Alice Cogswell, Manitowoc; Luella (Vern) Hecker, Manitowoc, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Edwin and Maria Vetter; her husband: Edgar Pleuss; two brothers, three sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law: Elroy Vetter; Vernon (Lucille) Vetter; Virgil Cogswell; Caroline (Alvin) Spaude and Phyllis Vetter; one nephew: William Vetter.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, 11306 Wehausen Road, Manitowoc. The Rev. Gregory Pope will officiate with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations would be appreciated for Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church or Manitowoc Lutheran High School. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
