Luella L. Hecker, age 93, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life late Tuesday afternoon, December 6, 2022, at Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center in Manitowoc, with family by her side.

Luella was born on December 22, 1928 in the town of Liberty, Manitowoc County. She was the daughter of the late Edwin and Maria Nass Vetter. Luella attended Valders High School and graduated with the class of 1946.

She was employed with Mirro Aluminum for 11 years followed by several years of employment at Manitowoc Shipbuilding.

On June 27, 1959 she married Vernon Hecker at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in the town of Liberty. Luella was a member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church and also a member of the 600 Blowing Club and Manitowoc Bowling Association. She enjoyed gardening and making floral arrangements and won many 1st place awards and best of show at the Manitowoc County Fair. Luella was a die-hard Chicago Cubs baseball fan and also a semi pro softball player in her young years.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Vernon, two children, Robin (Kris) Hecker and Dawn (John) Jirikowic both of Manitowoc; sixgrandchildren, Ashley (Erick) Klosterman, Ella, Lydia, August, Wesley Hecker, and Joshua Jirikowic; two great grandchildren, Damon and Declan; two sisters-in-law, Charlotte Vetter and Myrt Vetter; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Maria Vetter, one son, Jeffrey, four brothers, Elroy Vetter (Carolyne Spaude), Vernon (Lucille) Vetter, Willard Vetter, and Edward Vetter; two sisters, Bernice (Edgar)Pleuss and Alice (Virgil) Cogswell; sister-in-law, Phyllis Vetter, three nephews and two nieces.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, December 12, 2022 at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, 3209 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Kujawski and Rev. Stephen Melso. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Sunday, December 11, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and then at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.
