Mabel Margaret Cox, 85, a former Marshalltown area resident, died Saturday, July 20, 1991, in Winter Haven, Florida, where she had been residing. She was born April 5, 1906 in Udell, the daughter of Calvin Otto and Lenora Sears Stevens. She received her education in the Udell area, and graduated from Centerville High School. She later attended teachers' training and then taught for three years in the rural schools in southern Iowa. On June 9, 1928, in Centerville, she was married to Harold N Cox. Mrs Cox was the owner and operator of Cox's Used Merchandise and Antenna Service in Marshalltown. She was a member of the Central Christian Church and Serv-U. Survivors include one son, Noland D Cox, of Marshalltown; one daughter, Patricia C (Mrs William) Hartigan of Winter Haven; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three brothers, Dwight Stevens of Altoona; LaVerne Stevens of Seymour, Dale Stevens of Altoona; four sisters, Gladys Hamilton of Des Moines and Ida (Mrs Charles) Specht of Marshalltown. She was preceded in death by her husband on August 9, 1980; and two brothers, Wesley and Gerard Bernard. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, July 24, 1991, at Central Christian Church with the Rev. Timothy Murtaugh officiating. Burial will be in the Rose HIll Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Etel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home after 4 pm Tuesday, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm on Tuesday. A memorial is being established.
