John Burge Dies; Rites at Albany Albany (RNS)--John Thomas Burge, 66, former Jones County farmer and Albany ranch worker died at 7 a.m. Wednesday in Hendrick Memorial Hospital in Abilene after a two-week illness.Mr. Burge had lived in Albany 29 years. For the past two years, he had spent most of his time in Abilene.Born April 1, 1893, in Fayette County, he married the former Alma Williams on Aug. 11, 1911, in China Springs near Waco.His wife died in 1927 while the family lived in Jones County. Mr. Burge farmed near Stamford until moving to Albany in 1931. While at Albany he worked as a ranch hand and did odd jobs.Funeral will be held Friday in Assembly of God Church in Albany. The Rev. Jack Burgess, pastor will officiate assisted by the Rev. Morgan H. Beach pastor of the First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Albany Cemetery. Godfrey Funeral Home will announce service time.Survivors include three sons; Floyd and Ed, both of Albany and T. A. Higgins of Kermit. Two daughters, Mrs. Ike Kenney of Abilene and Mrs. Norman Oliver of Albany. Two brothers, Sam of Albany and Joe of San Antonio. Several nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.Pallbearers will be Oscar Lawrence, Clarence Carter, Bob Gavitt, D. B. Kinnare and Fred A. Douglas all of Albany and Earl McHaney of Abilene.
