Mrs. Barnas was born in Peabody and had been a lifelong resident of the city. She attended Peabody public schools.
Before her retirement, she was employed at Bobcat Tanning in Peabody. She also enjoyed reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was the wife of the late Ludwik Barnas.
She leaves a son, Michael Jaskiel of Nashua, N.H.; two daughters, Judith Drillis of Peabody, and Maryann Flynn of Beverly; two brothers, Robert Armstrong of Peabody and Kenneth Armstrong of Beverly; three sisters, Shirley Hockenhull of Middleton, Doris Lee of Arizona, and Barbara Prescott of Middleton; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
