He was born June 20, 1934, in the Town of Rhine, a son of the late Otto and Magdalena Dirks Kracht. He attended the Victory School in the Town of Rhine.
He served in the U.S. Army in Alaska from 1954-1956. He was also a member of the Franklin American Legion Kuphal-Meyer-Scheidt Post #367.
He had been employed for 20 years with Allied Van Lines in Sheboygan and was then employ7ed by Land O'Lakes Foods in Kiel, until his recent retirement.
Orville was also a member of Community United Church of Christ in Elkhart Lake.
Survivors include five brothers, Palmer (Florence) and Alvin (Loretta), both of Newton; Wallace (Beverly) Sheboygan, Lester (Betty), Town of Plymouth, Raymond (Patricia) Plymouth; one sister, Mrs. Florence (Norbert) Mallmann, Chilton; also numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn; and two brothers, Henry and Leroy.
Funeral services will be held Thursday evening, May 9, at 7:30 p.m. at the Wittkopp Funeral Home in Plymouth, the Rev. Lance Lackore, pastor of the Community United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in the Zoar-Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery in the Town of Rhine. Friends may call at the Wittkopp Funeral Home from 4 p.m. on Thursday, until the hour of services.
A memorial fund is being established in his name for Community United Church of Christ at Elkhart Lake.
