He was born March 31, 1924 in Town Rhine, the son of the late Otto and Magdaline Dirks Kracht.
He attended district grade school.
On July 1, 1950, Palmer was united in marriage to Florence Heimann in Haven WI. The couple resided in Haven until 1957, when they moved to Town Centerville, where they engaged in dairy farming. The marriage was blessed with three children. Florence passed away October 1, 2009.
Palmer was a member of St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland, where he had served on the church council. He was also a member of the Manitowoc County Farm Bureau, the Meeme Busy Badgers 4-H Club, The Republican Party and the American Jersey Cattle Assoc. Palmer and Florence enjoyed the traveling brought about by attending National Jersey Conventions for 24 years.
He enjoyed playing Skip-Bo and Carom with the grandchildren. Palmer took great pride in taking care of his fruit trees and enjoyed sharing plums, apples and juice with family and friends.
Palmer is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Earl) Oehldrich of Town Centerville and Diane Bonde of School Hill; one son, Allen ( Bonnie) Kracht of Town Centerville; nine grandchildren, Matt and Jordan Bonde of School Hill, Adam Kracht USMC of Afghanistan, Andrew and Katie Kracht of Town Centerville, Tammy (Shawn) Dehne of Cleveland, Kelly (Joe) Wamser of Sheboygan, Robert (Sarah) Oehldrich of Town Centerville, Dennis (Kayla) Oehldrich of Cleveland; six great-grandchildren, Lily, Emma, Hannah, Harrison, Madeline and Logan. He is further survived by four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Wallace Kracht, Raymond Kracht, Lester (Betty) Kracht, Alvin (Loretta) Kracht and Nancy Kracht; one sister and two brothers-in-law, Florence (Norbert) Mallman and Myron Voland.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Florence; one sister, Evelyn Sass and her husband Curly; three brothers, Henry, Orville and Leroy Kracht and three sisters-in-law, Patricia and Beverly Kracht and Arlene Voland.
Funeral services will be held, Saturday, January 15, 2011 at St John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland. Pastor David Endorf will officiate and burial will follow at Saxon Cemetery in Town Centerville.
