Goldie "Tootsie" Cassell Pilson, 73, of Vesta died Sunday, August 12, 2001, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, N.C.

She was born in Patrick County on April 29, 1928, to the late Edgar and Maggie Knowles Cassell.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Wayne Pilson; a grandson, Jason Keith; a sister, Sylvia Hopkins; and a brother, Elmer Cassell.

She was a member of Dan River Primitive Baptist Church and had retired from United Elastic Corporation. She wrote a weekly article in The Enterprise entitled "Mountain Echoes."

Surviving are one daughter, Gail Pilson Keith of Stuart; one granddaughter, Kimberly McIntyre of Shreveport, La.; two great-grandchildren: Amanda and Stephanie McIntyre; two brothers: Fredrick Cassell of Hillsville and James Cassell of Vesta; and three sisters: Lessie Thomas of North Carolina, Dovie Legus of Richmond and Fran Hines of Birmingham, Ala.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Dan River Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Donnie Conner officiating. Burial will be in the Cassell Family Cemetery.
