Mr. James Evan Cassell, age 77 of Meadows of Dan, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at the V. A. Medical Center in Salem. He was born in Patrick Co. on July 11, 1935 to the late Elijah Edgar Cassell and Maggie Knowles Cassell. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two daughters, Cynthia Jean Cassell and Angela Marie Cassell; four sisters, Sylvia Hopkins, Goldie Pilson, Frances Hines, Lessie Thomas; and one brother, Elmer Cassell. He had served in the US Army during WWII and was a member of VFW Post 8467.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter in law, Evan Cassell of Meadows of Dan, Ronnie and Patricia Cassell of Meadows of Dan; one brother, Frederick Cassell of Laurel Fork; and one sister, Dovie Legus of Richmond.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 17, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Concord Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Tim McGrady officiating. Burial will follow in the Cassell Family Cemetery.
