Carol was born June 12, 1936 in Sheboygan to George and Catherine (Vercouteren) Lubach. She graduated from Sheboygan Central School, Class of 1955.
On May 18, 1957 Carol and Roger E. Spelshaus were united in marriage at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The couple resided on Kaufmann Ave., for many years. Roger, former proprietor of Roger's Standard Service, 14th and Indiana, preceded her in death on April 28, 2001.
Mrs. Spelshaus was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she enjoyed fellowship in the Women's Bible Study, served as a Stephen Minister and volunteered in Trinity Lutheran School activities.
Carol shared a close relationship with her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren, that were the light of her life.
Survivors include three daughters, Kathy and Dale Gueldenzopf, Karen and John Rosenthal, and Julie and Jeff Jurss all of Sheboygan; ten grandchildren, Samantha (Daniel) Brunson, Kristin, and Geoffrey Gueldenzopf, Denae (Lucas) Leffin, Zach (fiancé, Gabrielle) and Ericka Rosenthal, Jordyn, Jacob, Jared, and Jonah Jurss; fourgreat grandchildren, Elyse, R. Grady, Kaeden and Grier Leffin; two sisters, Geraldine (Desmond) Dunne and Bernice (Kenneth) Sabrowsky, and other family members.
In addition to her parents and husband, Carol was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 25, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. Rev. Timothy J. Mech, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated for the memorial funds established in her name for Trinity Lutheran Church and School, and Sheboygan Area Lutheran High School.
Carol will always be remembered for her strong faith and for reaching out to care for her family and others.
