Raymond Brethouwer

Raymond Brethouwer, 74, 224 N. Ninth St., Oostburg, died Wednesday evening at Milwaukee County Medical Complex, after a short illness.

He was born Dec. 20, 1911 in Watertown, a son of the late John and Gertrude LeMahieu Brethouwer.

He attended Oostburg High School and also the LTC Machinists School.

On Dec.19, 1935, he married Arlene VerGowe in Hingham.

He was employed by Gilson Bros. Manufacturing Co. in Oostburg as a machinist for 30 years, retiring in 1975. Mr. Brethouwer was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Oostburg, and for many years played in the Oostburg band.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Richard of Sheboygan, Donald of Sheboygan Falls, Larry of Madison and Robert of Oostburg; three daughters, Mrs. Lyle (Linda) Schoenfeld and Mrs. Keith (Jo) Wallner, both of Sheboygan and Lathy of Oostburg; 18 grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Evelyn Ingelse of Oostburg.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Oostburg, with the Rev. Paul VanLoon, pastor, officiating. Family services will be held at 1:15 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.

Burial will be in Oostburg Cemetery.

Friends may call Friday from 4 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8-11 a.m. at the Krostag-Huehns Funeral Home in Oostburg, and at the church from noon until time of services Saturday.

A memorial fund has been established in Mr. Brethbouwer’s name.
