Larry was born on January 29, 1944, to Raymond and Arline (VerGowe) Brethouwer and attended Oostburg schools. On November 16, 1968, he married the love of his life, Renee F. Neumann, in Sheboygan Falls. He served his country faithfully in the United States Marines Corps in Vietnam from 1968 until 1970. Larry worked as a truck driver until his retirement when he was 63.
He enjoyed fishing, trains, tinkering around on vehicles, and spending time with family and friends.
A funeral service will take place at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Tuesday, June 7th at 1:00 pm. Visitation will take place from 10:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Burial with military honors will follow at Hartman Cemetery.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Renee Brethouwer; three children, Tammy (Mark) Korman, Craig Brethouwer, and Troy Brethouwer; grandchildren, Donovan Korman, Alexis Korman (Nick Davis and son, Cain), Chase Korman, Memphis Brethouwer, and Mason Brethouwer; great-granddaughters, Elena Brion, Kaila Korman, and Ariella Davis; brother, Robert (Yvonne) Brethouwer; sisters, Jo (Keith) Wallner, and Kathi Brethouwer; brothers-in-law, Lyle Schoenfeld, DuWayne Neumann and sister-in-law, Mary Brethouwer, Candace (Ray) Penland. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond & Arline Brethouwer; parents-in-law, Robert & Audrey Neumann; brothers, Richard Brethouwer, Donald Brethouwer; sister, Linda Schoenfeld; brother-in-law, Mark Neumann; nephews, Michael Brethouwer and Michael Neumann.
