(The editor welcomes a more complete biography from anyone closer to Great-uncle Benny than him.) Every fall, Benny brought bushel baskets full of cucumbers and potatoes from his garden to his niece Joyce. She would soon be steaming up the kitchen with canning jars with resulted in many pickles for the root cellar and some for Uncle Benny. In 1965, her husband broke his leg and was out of work for some time. The family was in hard straights by their youngest daughter's first birthday. Uncle Benny knowing this, went down to Main Street St. in Wausau and bought a little blue coat with a matching blue bonnet for his grand-niece's birthday. Joyce was deeply touched and remembered it yet into her 90th year.
