The Hafeman sisters used to pick stones on the farm (The glacier had stopped at their farm in the Town of Hewitt, Marathon Co). They did not want to look like farm girls however, so they pulled their sleeves down to cover their arms. Linda lived out her life in Schofield where she kept a large garden almost to the day she died. She also spent summers at their cottage on Paradise Lake in the Northern Highlands Forest. She split wood for their large fireplace at least til the age of 60- the last summer vacation we spent there. She liked church, fishing, berry-picking and playing Sheepshead.
