Uncle Oscar died jumping off or slipping from the rocks at the Eau Claire Dells, Marathon Co., WI.. He was laid out in the parlor of his parents' home as was the custom of the day. The undertaker poured the blood down the outhouse which bothered his sister Olga greatly. She had been close to Oscar who stood as best man at her wedding. She never got over his death. Even as late as 1970, her grand-children were not allowed to even see the picturesque dells side of the bridge. They parked and swam on the calm side of the bridge. The editor once swam over to the other bank and found Forget-Me-Nots growing there. He wondered if someone had planted them for Oscar long ago.
