Rosie Marcella Allen Swope
08/24/1938 - 02/01/2018 Rosie Marcella Allen Swope, 79, of Garrard County, died Feb. 1, 2018. Born August 24, 1938 in Rockcastle Co., she is the daughter of the late Smarie Ann Carpenter Kidd and Charles Callahan. She is a longtime member of Hedgeville Baptist Church and had taught Sunday School for many years. Her time was also spent gardening, canning and camping in many interesting places with her family. She loved all children, especially those at Camp Dick Elementary School where she retired from the cafeteria. Rosie loved her family and friends and didn’t hesitate to let them see that she had a mind of her own and would express her opinions. She was predeceased by siblings, Marie Allen, Joe Kidd, Faye Baker and Lela Delphine Cherry.

Rosie is survived by her husband of 47 years, Benny Swope; four daughters, Dorothy Delong, Betty Parsons, and Lois DeLong, all of Garrard County and Lisa Swope, her God-daughter, of Lexington; siblings, James Kidd, Bobby Jones, Sherman Lee Jones, Donna Sue Blanton and Loretta Callahan Lucas; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Stith Funeral Home, Danville. Rev. Jonathan Grizzell will officiate. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Swope, Phillip Swope, Richie Dawson, Jonathan Dawson, Eric Milburn, Chris Browning and Austin Baker.
