James William Kidd, age 79, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford, Kentucky. Born Sunday, October 10, 1943, in Lincoln County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Elderberry & Smarie Ann Carpenter Kidd. James was a US Army Veteran, who served during the Vietnam Era. James was a Pentecostal Pastor, and worked for the gas company, was a farmer, and a logger. James enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, fishing, and Bible study in his home.

James leaves behind three daughters, Jean Kidd of Waynesburg, Lisa Bailey (Glen "Beetle") of Stanford, Kentucky, and April Kidd of Waynesburg; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandson due June 2023; one sister, Donna Sue Blanton (Ricky) of Crab Orchard, Kentucky; one brother, Charles Raegan of Alabama; and several other extended family members and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by two daughters, Amy May Kidd (infant) and Mary Elizabeth Kidd Crowe; four brothers, Raymond Kidd, Joe Kidd, Bobby Jones, and Sherman Jones; and four sisters, Delphine Cherry, Faye Baker, Marie Allen, and Marzelle Swope.

A Public Visitation will be held 11:30 am-12:15 pm Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home.

At 12:30 pm, the funeral procession will leave the funeral home for a 1:30 pm Graveside Service, with full military honors, at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Bishop Cornelius Duncan will officiate the Graveside Service.

Kevin Garris, Billy Robinson, Johnny Robinson, Scottie Joe Kidd, Jimmy Baker, Joey Cherry, Christopher Parks, Mickey Goforth, and Jeff Blanton will serve as Active Pallbearers. James' grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

The Graveside Service will be recorded and uploaded to James' memorial page of the funeral home's website.
