Deceased Name: Abraham F. Martin

Abraham F. Martin, 87, of Constable, New York, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at his home while under the loving care of his family and Hospice of the North Country Inc.

Born in Malone, New York, Sept. 30, 1926, he was the son of the late Felix and Cordelia Lamica. He graduated from Franklin Academy in Malone.

Abraham served in the United States Army for 20 years and nine months, serving during World War II in Panama, and the European Theater. He later served in Korea during the Korean conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1966. After his discharge from the Army, he was employed by Alcoa in Massena for 21 years and retired in 1987.

On Nov. 13, 1957, he was united in marriage to the former Eva W. Urban in Nuremburg, Germany. She predeceased him on June 2, 2009.

He was a member of the Malone American Legion for 35 years and also a longtime member of the Malone Lodge of Moose. He was very active member of the Constable Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino. His most precious moments were spent with his family.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, James Martin of Evans Mills, New York, and Larry and Michaelle Martin of Constable; five daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and John Tupia of Westville, Deborah and Dennis Wood of Evans Mills, Diane and Gregg Santamore of Theresa, New York, Janet and Ricky Martin of North Bangor, and Bonita and Brian Plante of Constable; two half brothers, Adrian Brooks of Orlando, Florida, and George Brooks of Brushton; one brother-in-law, Kenneth Friend of Bangor; one sister, Bertha Shova of Watertown, New York; five half sisters, Madeline Perry of Malone, Linda Rehault of Connecticut, and Sue Donahue, Beatrice Warner and Shirley Hayward, all of Malone; 25 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by six sisters, Victoria Duemars, Theresa Mallette, Pauline Savoir, Shirley Johnston, Dorothy Friend and Geraldine Rivers; four half sisters, Evelyn Lee, Ida Lambert, Rita Williams and Sandra Jarvis; eight half brothers, Francis, Bill, Arthur, Kenneth, Norman, Wilfred, Raymond and Frank Brooks; two grandchildren, twins Leanne and Elizabeth Martin; and two great-grandchildren, Kalina Santamore and Kayden Niles.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 9 until 11 a.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m.in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Billy Bond officiating. Burial will be in the Constable Cemetery.

Donations may be made in his memory to either the Alice Ballard Fund of Hospice of the North Country Inc. or to the Constable Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad.
