H. C. EASON
Herbert Clarence Eason, 81, of 86 Cypress St., died yesterday morning in a local hospital.
Funeral services will take place at 3 p.m. today at Stuhr's Downtown Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Harold Smith officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Dr. William H. Speissegger, Dr. Charles Ford Rivers, Jesse E. Powell, James Roland Moseley Jr., Edwin P. Carroll, Walter H. Newman, Edwin C. Owens, and James N. Sellers.
Mr. Eason was born Feb. 5, 1885 in Charleston, a son of Robert Henry Eason and Mrs. Annie Speissegger Eason. He was a member of Trinity Methodist Church.
As a member of Trinity Methodist Church, he had served as a member and chairman of the official board and, at his death, was an honorary member of the board. He had served for more than 40 years as treasurer of the church's General Sunday School.
Mr. Eason was retired general cashier of the S.C. Electric and Gas Co.
When he retired in March 1950, he had worked for the firm for more than 38 years. He began his employment as a store keeper.
Surviving are: his widow, Mrs. Ray Kitchings Eason; two daughters, Mrs. Buist M. Fanning Jr., and Mrs. Brooks W. Kittles, both of Charleston; four sons, Herbert C. Eason Jr., of West Oak Forest, the Rev. Robert H. Eason of Portsmouth, Va., David W. Eason of Sumter, and Hugh K. Eason of Charleston; and 18 grandchildren.
