Faye Abernathy Pope, age 70 of Denver passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Novant Health Medical Center in Huntersville. Born April 7, 1948 in Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Franklin Major and Myrtle McAlister Abernathy. She was a member of Friendly Chapel Baptist Church in Maiden.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Mark Shane Pope; 6 sisters, Margaret Brooks, Elizabeth Abernathy, Sue Medlin, Helen Hager, Pauline Abernathy and Marie Abernathy and a grandson, Josh Helms.

Left to cherish her memory:
Husband of 50 years: Howard Lee Pope of the home

2 Daughters: Lori Helms and husband David of Newton and Crystal Dishman and husband Sean of Denver

4 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren

3 Sisters: Martha Owenby of Iron Station, Pansy Jonas and Ruth Fraley, both of Stanley

3 Brothers: Harold Abernathy of Denver, Wayne Abernathy of Maiden and Frank Abernathy of Lowell

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Friendly Chapel Baptist Church in Maiden with Rev. Jeff Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
