Marian Hensen, age 100 passed away on November 5, 2016 at The Waunakee Manor surrounded by her family. She was born on November 18, 1915 in the town of Springfield, Wisconsin, the daughter of Frank and Helen (Spahn) Acker. Marian grew up in Ashton. Marian married Clemence Hensen October 22, 1935 at St. Peters Catholic Church in Ashton. Marian and Clem farmed for many years in Sun Prairie. After retiring they moved to Lake Wisconsin and enjoyed many years fishing and entertaining family and friends; later they returned to Sun Prairie. Clem died February 25, 1997. Marian enjoyed being a mom and homemaker, loved gardening and canning, baking, quilting and needle-work crafts, and making many stuffed animals and Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. Survivors include her nine children, David (Carol) of DeForest, Ron (Patty) of Merrimac, Kenneth (Barbara) of Fredericksburg VA, Eugene (Alice) of Lac du Flambeau and Naples, Fl., Lois (Michael) Laufenberg of Waunakee, Leon (Joyce) of Pewaukee, Leta of Madison, Rick (Tracey) of Sun Prairie and Constance (Joseph) Scott of Apple Valley, MN, her 19 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren; her sisters Helen Gilles, Jane Whitt (friend Bill), Jeanette Kurt, her sister-in-laws Pat Acker, Lillian Acker, Evelyn Acker, Sally Acker and brother-in-law Alvin Bucheger. Marian was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Raymond, Jerome (in childhood), Gregory, Edmund, Jerome, Lawrence, Casper and sisters Marcella Wagner and Delores Bollig, a grandson and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at SACRED HEARTS OF JESUS AND MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 227 Columbus St., Sun Prairie on Thursday, November 10th at 11:30a.m. Msgr. Duane Moellenberndt will preside. A visitation will be held Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be in Sacred Hearts Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sacred Hearts Catholic Church or Agrace Hospice Care. The family would like to thank the Sienna Crest staff for mom's loving care over the past 5 years, Agrace Hospice Care and the Waunakee Manor for their care and support given during mom's last days.
