Services for Edward J. White, 83, of 3002 Miami St., chairman of the board of Edward J. White Inc, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Matthew Cathedral Mr. White was dead on arrival at 8:37 a.m. Monday in LaPorte Hospital of an apparent heart attack.
Entombment will be in Riverview Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Hickey Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson Blvd., where the parish and Knights of Columbus Council 553 will say the rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Millhouse or the church.
Mr. White was chairman of the board of the plumbing company since 1925.
He was born Feb. 17, 1904, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.
His first wife, the former Lucille Smith, preceded him in death.
On Oct. 5, 1974, in South Bend, he married Ann Woodka, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mary Jane Hahl of Yukon, Okla.; four sons, Richard E. and Paul J., both of South Bend, James A. of Fremont, Ind., and Robert E. of Lakeville; a stepdaughter, Joan Bosse of Farmington Hills, Mich.; four stepsons, Kenneth and Joseph Woodka, both of South Bend, Dennis Woodka of Fort Myers, Fla., and Richard Woodka of Los Angeles; 27 grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Betty Gassensmith and Rita McCue, both of South Bend, and Evelyn Carrier of Avon Park, Fla. ; . and a brother, Eugene of South Bend.
A son, Dr. Donald White, preceded him in death.
He was a member of the church, Knights of Columbus Council 553 and University Club and was past president of St. Joseph Valley Plumbers and Heating and Cooling Contractors.
