. BRARENS— In this city. April 6. 1900,. Hannah C, beloved wife of the : late ; Henry Brarens Sr., mother of Mrs. C. Seifert , and Peter Ferdinand and the late Henry Brarens, and sister of P. M.Paulsen of Weaverville. Cal., and Mrs. Pauline Thomsen of Hamburg,' Germany, a native of Wyck-a-Fohr, Schleswlg, .Germany. . aged 73 years 10 - months and 10 days.

Removed from Odd Fellows Cemetery S F starting in 1933 class="divider"∼Hanna Christina Paulsen was born in Wyk on the Island of Fohr in what was the Duchy of Schleswig, now a part of Germany. She was the first born child of Peter Paulsen and Sabina Jacobsen. In 1847, she married Hinrich Braren, also of Fohr.

In 1868, with her 4 children, she sailed from Hamburg on the "Hammonia" and joined her husband in Weaverville, California. They eventually settled in the San Francisco and made it their permanent home.

Her funeral notice from the S.F. Call Bulletin:
"BRARENS— In this city, April 5. 1900. Hannah C beloved wife of the late Henry Brarens Sr.. mother of Mrs. C. Seifert, and Peter, Ferdinand and the late Henry Brarens, and sister of P. M. Paulsen of Weaverville. Cal., and Mrs. Pauline Thomsen of Hamburg, Germany, a native of Wyck-a-Fohr, Schleswig, Germany, aged 73 years 10 months and 10 days. Friends and acquaintances are respectfully Invited to attend the funeral this day (Sunday) at 2 o'clock, from her late residence, 435 Dolores street, near Eighteenth. Interment I. O. O. F. Cemetery."

(Note: In the 1930's the cemetery was closed. Relatives had the option of removing the remains to the cemetery of their choice. Most of the remains of those unclaimed were disenterred and reburied at Woodlawn Cemetery in Colma, however Woodlawn does not have a record of reburial specific to Hannah or her husband.)
