Larry Runyon, 77, of Olney, formerly of Calhoun, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2019 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN.
Larry was born on March 21, 1942 in Richland Co., IL, the son of William and Effie (Thomas) Runyon.
He married Donna (Struble) on October 17, 1970 at the Free Methodist Church in Olney and she survives.
Larry worked at the shoe factory for 18 years and then at Champion Lab for 24 years, from which he retired. He liked gardening, flowers, walking, and telling big stories. Larry also enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels and watching them eat and play. He liked going to McDonalds to visit with his friends and have coffee. Larry liked watching Gunsmoke on TV. He especially enjoyed his three grandchildren and watching them grow up. They were the apple of his eye.
Larry is survived by his wife of 48 years, Donna Runyon of Olney; daughter, Christy Saltsgaver and husband Tim of Mt. Carmel, IL; son, Chad Runyon of Olney; grandchildren, Whitney Saltsgaver of Evansville, IN, Austin Saltsgaver of Mt. Carmel, and Kaitlin Runyon of Belleville, IL; sister, Helen Harris and husband Bob of West Salem, IL; brother, Donald Runyon of Colorado Springs, CO; sisters-in-law, Juanita Runyon of Olney, Kate Runyon of West Salem, IL, and Nellie Runyon of MO; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Roscoe Runyon, James Runyon, Harry Runyon, and Richard Runyon, sisters, Oma Seaton, Elsie Seaton, and Pauline Ryals.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, June 21, 2019 at the Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, with burial following in Haven Hill Cemetery.
