(1928 - 2000)

Roman "Romy" C. Salta, age 72, of 5320 N. Woodland Drive, Two Rivers, died Friday morning, November 24, 2000, at his residence.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2000, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Rev. Roman Zbieranski O.F.M. will officiate.

Romy was born September 16, 1928, in the township of Cooperstown, Manitowoc County, son of the late Edward and Anna Decker Salta. He grew up in th4e township of Cooperstown attending local schools. Romy served with the United States Army during World War II. He owned and operated Romy & Darlene's Bar now known as the Fawn Supper Club from 1958 to 1963.. He also worked for the Mirro Corporation for 41 years, retiring in April of 1996 Romy was married to Darlene Kuene on August 23, 1952, at Manitowoc. He was a member of the VFW Otto Oas Post #659, also a member of the Rockea Hunting Club, Collins. Romy was an avid lottery player, Bingo and loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed the outdoors especially feeding the birds and animals on a daily basis.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Jim Haelfrisch, Sunny Slope Road, Reedsville; two sons and one daughter-in-la, Rick Salta, Newton, Jaimie R. and Kristin Salta, Cincinnati, Ohio; six grandchildren, Jason Riha and his girlfriend, Renee Yohanek, Kimberly and Kari Ann Haelfrisch, Kristin and Heather Brandl, Mackenzie Salta; the mother of Romy's children, Darlene J. Salta, Manitowoc; a very special friend, Sherry Hauschultz, Manitowoc; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Edward Salta, Manitowoc, Robert and Marilyn Salta, Two Rivers; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Violet Robinson, Manitowoc, Dorothy and Bob Nichols, Manitowoc; niece, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Paul 'Little Pauly" Salta.

Relatives and friends may call at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 5-8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
