ELWOOD -- Milo "Mike" Wilson Kilgore, 87, lifelong resident of Elwood, died July 13, 2004, at Community Parkview Care Center in Elwood after an extended illness.
He was born Feb. 13, 1917, in Elwood. He retired in 1979 from the U.S. Postal Service where he worked for many years and was a former employee of Continental Can Corp., Elwood.
He was a lifelong member of Grace United Methodist Church in Elwood and a 50+ year member of the Quincy Masonic Lodge in Elwood. He was a graduate of Elwood High School and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy M. (Moore) Kilgore of Elwood, whom he married April 24, 1937; five children, Judith Gillam and Cathy (husband, Phil) Ogden, all of Elwood, Carol Hudson of Frankton, Janet Stover and Mary Ellen (husband, Curt) Whitson, all of Elwood; nine grandchildren, Susan (husband, Larry) Hill of Indianapolis, Mike (wife, Cheryl) Ogden of Elwood, Brad (wife, Paula) Compton of Frankton, Brent (wife, Jennifer) Compton of Dennison, Ill., Angela (husband, Scott) Weins of Frankton, Clint Whitson, Clayton Whitson, Lynzy Stover and Kelsey Whitson, all of Elwood; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph A. and Myrtle A. (Saul) Kilgore; a sister, Mildred Barrett; and a son-in-law, Wilbern Gillam Jr.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home with the Revs. Greg Waggoner and Cindy Osgood officiating. Burial will be in Elwood City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The Quincy Masonic Lodge will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. today.
Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Grace United Methodist Church.
