Paul was born on October 25, 1933 in Grimms, son of the late Albert and Mary
(Stradal) Shimek. He married the former Darlene Radey on September 1, 1956 at
St. Patrick Catholic Church in Maple Grove. Paul served in the U.S. Army. He
worked at Brillion Iron Works, Hamann Construction and Spancrete from which he
retired in 1997. He then worked at Branch River Country Club cutting grass,
which he loved, until time of illness. He was a very active member of Holy Family
Parish serving as past trustee, lector and choir member. He enjoyed making maple
syrup, golfing, picking mushrooms, gardening, fishing and hunting, watching the
Brewers and Packers, playing cards and singing. And the most important things that
Paul enjoyed were putting a smile on people’s faces and spending time with his
family.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene Shimek, Whitelaw; six children and their
spouses: Rose (Mark) Lensmeyer, Whitelaw; Bill (Wendy) Shimek, Reedsville; Andy
(Denise) Shimek, Whitelaw; Tony (Vicky) Shimek, Reedsville; Patsy (Milton)
Coopersmith, Manitowoc; Judy (Gary) Schuh, Whitelaw; fifteen grandchildren: Jacob
Muhowski, Manitowoc; Allen (Corrie) Muhowski, Manitowoc; Crystal Lensmeyer and her
fiancé, Nathan Levash, Jennifer (Corey) Schuh, Kaukauna; Lindsay (Craig) Anhalt,
Reedsville; Erin (Eric) Korinek, Whitelaw; Michael Shimek (Jean Pankratz), Valders;
Josh Shimek and his fiancée, Brittany Glasow, Reedsville; Ashley Shimek, Reedsville;
Joshua (Tanya) Schultz, WA; Chuck (Tammy) Schultz, FL; Nik Coppersmith, Manitowoc;

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Connie Frances Shimek; his parents,
Albert and Mary Shimek; father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Helen Radey;
four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Sylvia (Lester) Zipperer; Mabel (Harold)
Bodart; Dorothy (Mike) O’Neil; Kathryn Braun; one brother and sister-in-law, Milton
(Edna) Shimek; infant brother; three brothers-in-law, Joel Thompson, Donald Radey;
Joe Konitzer; great grandson, Jackson Muhowski.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Holy Family
Parish, 1100 West Ryan Road, Brillion. Rev. Timothy Brandt will celebrate the Mass
of Christian Burial with burial to follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Maple Grove.
Graveside services will be accorded by the Kubale – O’Connell VFW Post # 6179.
Relatives and friends may call at church from 8:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at
11:00 a.m. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Kellnersville is assisting
the Shimek family.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mansky, all the wonderful staff at the cancer
team of Bellin Health, Holy Family Memorial Cancer Center and Hospice Team, Dr.
